Vermentino 2020 - Murray Darling, VIC
This beautiful little expression of a varietal originating from Central Italy has been seeing a surge in popularity in Australia over the past five years, and with good reason. Finely balancing an aromatic nose of blossoms and citrus fruit, its light body and delicate mouthfeel keeps things bright and playful. Tasting of green apple and grapefruit throughout, it finishes on a fine acidity to round off and ready you for the next sip.
From Central Italy originally, this variety is growing in favour even in the warmer areas in the South of France. In Australia it performs really well in the warmer areas along the Murray River producing a lovely fresh “Sauv Blanc” style with hints of grassy floral flavours without the aggression of Sauv Blanc.
White peach, lime zest, and grapefruits on the nose follow through to melon, citrus cordial, and a balanced chalky minerality on the palate, all finishing up nice and zesty. This is a fantastically drinkable wine, brilliant for afternoons out in the sun.
Available at Rose St, Lygon St, and Queen St.
